Asphalt milling is the process of removing part or all of a paved surface. When an existing asphalt surface is showing damage from wear and tear, removing the top layer of asphalt can be a way to repair failing pavement. While there are a number of factors that must be considered, if the underlying base (GAB) and subgrade (soil) remains strong, milling is an excellent way to increase stability and remove surface damage such as cracking and rutting. The amount of asphalt to be removed is specific to each project. Our team will make a recommendation for removal based on our experience and industry standards. When a road or parking lot is severely damaged and the underlying base and subgrade is no longer sound, then full-depth reclamation or full-depth removal may be necessary.
